Refund Policy

BenefitStack charges service-based fees, not outcome-based fees. Payments are for work performed — not for whether a grant gets approved.

Effective: May 2026
01

General Principle

BenefitStack's fee model is aligned with your interests: we charge for services we actually deliver, not for outcomes we cannot control. Government approvals depend on policy, documentation, and discretionary decisions that are entirely outside our control.

We do not charge success fees at any tier. If a scheme gets approved, 100% of the funding goes to you.
02

Understanding the Fee Structure

Your payment at checkout consists of two distinct components that are governed by different refund rules.

Platform fee (BenefitStack)

Covers the matching engine, document checklist, CA marketplace, escrow infrastructure, and case tracking. This component is recognised as revenue by BenefitStack when the service tier is activated. It is refundable only under the limited conditions in Section 05.

CA professional fee (your CA — held in escrow)

Held by BenefitStack and released to the CA only upon the case reaching "Filed" status, confirmed by both parties. This component is not revenue to BenefitStack and is governed by the escrow rules in Section 07.

Checklist+ Refund Window

For the Checklist+ tier (₹999 + GST):

  • A full refund is available within 7 days of purchase if the form-fill templates and readiness scores are not useful for your specific case
  • Email legal@benefitstack.in within 7 days of your payment date with your transaction ID and reason
  • No refund is available after 7 days, or if you have used the templates to submit or prepare any government application
04

Non-Refundable: Platform Fee

The platform fee component is non-refundable once any of the following have occurred:

  • Eligibility report has been generated for your profile
  • Personalised scheme rankings and recommendations have been provided
  • Document checklist or pre-flight checks have been completed
  • Application preparation or CA professional assignment has begun
  • CA or consultant work has been initiated on your case
Once a service has been rendered, the platform fee for that service is not refundable — regardless of the government's decision on your application.
05

Refund Eligibility: Platform Fee

A full refund of the platform fee may be considered in the following circumstances:

  • Payment was made in error (e.g., duplicate transaction)
  • The purchased service was not initiated within 48 hours of payment
  • A technical failure on BenefitStack's end prevented service delivery
To request a refund under these circumstances, email legal@benefitstack.in within 7 days of the payment date with your transaction ID and details.
06

Partial Refunds: Platform Fee

Partial refunds of the platform fee may be issued at our discretion when:

  • A service was partially completed due to circumstances outside the user's control
  • The agreed scope of work was not fully delivered
  • Mutual agreement is reached between BenefitStack, the professional, and the user
Partial refund amounts are assessed case-by-case based on documented work completed.
07

Escrow-Held CA Professional Fee

The CA professional fee is held in escrow and handled as follows:

  • If the CA withdraws before initiating any work: the full CA professional fee is refunded to you
  • If the CA has partially completed work and withdraws: a partial refund of the CA fee is evaluated based on documented case progress at the time of withdrawal
  • If a case dispute is raised and mediation determines the CA did not deliver the agreed scope: BenefitStack will assess the refund amount based on dispute findings
  • Once the CA professional fee has been released — i.e., after "Filed" status is confirmed by both parties — it is not refundable
The CA professional fee and the platform fee are assessed independently for refund purposes. Eligibility for one does not imply eligibility for the other.
08

No Refund for Outcomes

No refunds will be issued for:

  • Application rejection by the government or scheme authority
  • Approval of a lower funding amount than estimated or displayed on the platform
  • Delays in government processing, disbursement, or decision-making
  • Changes in scheme eligibility criteria after the service was initiated
  • Inaccurate or incomplete data provided by the user that affected eligibility assessment or filing
Government decisions are outside BenefitStack's control. Our service is the guidance and preparation — not the outcome.
09

Refund Timeline

Approved refunds will be processed to the original payment method within 7–10 business days of approval. Bank or payment processor handling may add 2–5 additional business days depending on your institution.
